Usertune Discontinued
Real-time content personalization API based on location, device, and behavior.
I built Usertune because I couldn’t find a content personalization service that was developer-friendly and not built for enterprise budgets. Most personalization platforms assume a marketing team and a big contract — I wanted something you could wire up with a REST call and iterate on yourself.
Usertune served personalized content in real time based on user location, device, behavior, and custom attributes, over a REST API, JS SDK, or GraphQL endpoint, with webhooks for event-driven cases. Content was delivered from the edge to keep latency down, and the dashboard covered the basics: conversion rates, engagement, and A/B testing content variants.
I couldn’t find a market for it. The personalization space is already saturated with big players, and small companies or engineers running small projects just didn’t show interest in personalization — it wasn’t a problem they felt they had.
I should have done the market check before building it, not after. I never talked to engineers or small startups to find out whether they actually wanted this — I assumed the problem was worth solving and built first.
